Travel Clinics
Some overseas travel requires careful medical consideration and planning. We run designated Travel Clinics to help you with this.
Bedford Medical Clinic is proudly a member of Travel Clinics Australia. We aim to be a one stop shop, providing you with all your travel vaccination and medication needs. Most vaccinations are in stock here at the clinic all the time, to make your vaccination process as easy as possible. No prescriptions are required - we have what you need here already.
Thursday afternoons and evenings are when we run our travel clinics. If you need to be seen on a different day, please call our reception staff on (08) 8276 5055 and they will try to find you an alternative time.
Things that should be given consideration prior to travel include:
- Your previous vaccination history
- Vaccination requirements
- Safety information about the country
- Emergency medication needs (gastro kits)
- Preventative actions to keep you healthy while travelling
Finding out what vaccinations are recommended for countries you plan to visit is easy. We recommend patients visit www.travelclinics.com.au where you can search by country. (Medical advice beyond this must be given in an appointment with a doctor due to medico legal reasons.)
It is good to get started early, as some vaccinations require a course of doses to be given at set intervals over a few weeks. However, having said that, even if you have limited time before you leave, please still seek advice and have the vaccines that you can before you go.
As an example, it is important that you know that a Yellow Fever Vaccination is an Australian Government prerequisite for re-entry into Australia after visiting certain countries.
For Travel Clinic appointments, it is important that you bring with you any previous vaccination history to your first visit. To help with this, and to save time on the day of your appointment, please go to our forms & information sheets page and print off, fill in and bring to your appointment the Pretravel Travel Clinic Form.
